The New York Law School Law Review publishes four issues each academic year, primarily in the form of symposia that are developed by the Law Review’s editorial staff in collaboration with the New York Law School faculty and academic centers. We also welcome articles addressing legal issues in all areas of the law.

We are interested in publishing original legal scholarship in the form of articles, essays, notes, and book reviews. We look for scholarly works that contribute to the discourse and debate on legal issues in all areas of the law. When reviewing submissions we also look for:

• insightful and thought-provoking analysis of legal issues in any area of the law, including international or non-U.S. legal issues;
• innovative and practical solutions to challenging, timely, or often overlooked legal problems;
• well-written, well-organized, and thoroughly researched articles.

We welcome submissions from all members of the legal community, including:

• law professors (tenured, non-tenured, and adjunct)
• judges
• legal practitioners in both the private and public sectors
• policymakers and lawmakers
• law clerks
• law students

We also welcome submissions from outside of the United States.

Author benefits

• Each author who publishes with the New York Law School Law Review will receive 100 bound reprints of their article and 30 copies of the full issue upon publication.
• Each article is assigned to a single editor who is responsible for maintaining close contact with the author throughout the editorial process.
• Every piece is reviewed by our publisher, Professor Cameron Stracher, a member of the NYLS faculty who is dedicated to the Law Review.
• Our editorial staff works closely with the author to ensure excellence in the final, published article.
• On occasion, we invite authors who have published with us to present their work at New York Law School. If this is of interest to you, please let us know in your cover letter.

What to include

All submissions, whether submitted via mail or email, should include a cover letter summarizing the article and the author’s contact information, including phone number and email. Abstracts, resumes, and other biographical information are helpful, but not required.

Required format

Text and citations should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (18th ed. 2005).

We accept documents in either Microsoft Word or WordPerfect.

The font should be Times New Roman, 12 point font.

The text should be printed on one side of the page only.

The format should be double-spaced.

Footnotes, not endnotes, should be used. Footnotes should be single-spaced in Times New Roman 10 point font.

Each page should be numbered.

We prefer, but do not require, that submissions are less than 100 pages.

As a matter of policy, the New York Law School Law Review encourages the use of gender-neutral language.

Offers of publication

We review every submission immediately upon receipt and our goal is to extend offers of publication within two weeks of receiving the article. Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we are unable to respond to each author individually. If you have not heard from us within that time period, you may assume that we have declined to extend an offer for publication.

Expedited review

Because we make decisions about publishing submissions quickly, requests for expedited review are generally unnecessary. Nevertheless, we review all requests for expedited review and will respond if we are interested in the article. These requests should be directed to law_review@nyls.edu.
