Advances on Both Coasts: California Supreme Court and Massachusetts Legislature Act in Favor of Gay Rights
The California Supreme Court has ruled unanimously that a fertility clinic cannot claim its physicians have a right to refuse to provide fertility treatments to a lesbian because of the physicians' religious objections. Meanwhile, Massachusetts opened the door to marriage for couples from outside the state. Click here to read more about these developments in the September issue of Lesbian/Gay Law Notes.

Upcoming Event for the Safe Passage Project
October 1st from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., the Safe Passage Project will offer a continuing legal education seminar for lawyers and students on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status in the Wellington Conference Center on the 5th floor of the A building at New York Law School. Racial Justice Project Case Analysis
The Racial Justice Project has posted its most recent case analysis, this time reviewing Crawford v. Marion County Election Board. This recent Supreme Court case upheld Indiana's voting identification requirements. The Racial Justice Project's analysis delves more deeply into the statute's hidden costs in terms of disenfranchisement. To view the analysis, click here.
